Owned
by automotive giant General Motors, Cadillac
is the domestic luxury carmaker of the United
States. And while the company is based in the
United States, the company produces a great
exotic car rental in countries overseas and
has begun competing with foreign auto-giants
like BMW and Aston Martin.
Cadillac first become popular for producing
large, elegant, senior-oriented sedans but
has recently become popular amongst a younger,
more hip crowd. From luxury SUV’s like
the Escalade to trucks and two-passenger convertibles,
the company has expanded it’s horizons
and become a must have for the young and wealthy.
Known for using standardized parts and precise
craftsmanship, Cadillac was the first US auto
manufacturer to produce a car with a V8 engine
and the first in the industry to offer headlights
that could be controlled from the dashboard
inside the car. They were also the first company
in the world to use thermostatic control of
a cooling system and, during the 1930’s,
the company became known for producing cars
with powerful V12 and V16 engines.
But a luxury car rental isn’t just
about power. At the end of World War II the
company created the tailfinned, chrome-laden
automobiles that would become act as a model
for all post-war automobiles in America. Popular
amongst the wealthy upper class and old Hollywood,
car’s like the Coupe de Ville began
selling like crazy and marked not only your
wealth but your classy reputation.
Despite early success, the
Cadillac car rental began selling less and
less as gas prices rose and the company was
forced to redesign large models and jump on
the sports car bandwagon. In the 1990’s
the company adopted a new design policy that
included sharp lines and stacked headlights
for a whole new look and auto shape. Combined
with new engine technology, luxurious amenities
and a reputation for customizing just about
everything, the company has moved forward
in to the future and continues to be an American
favorite.
