After being redesigned, the 2008 Mini Cooper
S Convertible has higher performance, a more
comfortable interior and additional amenities
that make the exotic car rental just plain
easier to drive. And while there’s no
doubt that the Cooper Convertible fits right
in with all those other luxury cars, there’s
just something about the car’s overall
fun personality that makes it a little less
intimidating than all the others.
A
turbocharged version of the standard Mini
Cooper, the S Convertible runs on a 1.6-liter
engine produces 172 horsepower and 177 pound-feet
or torque. Though that may not seem like much,
it’s certainly enough to propel the
incredibly small car from zero to 60mph in
only 7 seconds, which is really all that you
need in a car. Drivers of the Cooper don’t
want a race car, they crave a luxury car rental
with style and fuel economy, which they find
in the S Convertible.
Standard
features include the choice between a manual
or automatic six-speed transmission, antilock
disc brakes, side airbags, traction control,
xenon headlights, front and rear foglamps
and heated power-folding mirrors. Optional
amenities include stability control and the
Sidewalk Package, which includes several special
exterior and interior styling elements that
are unique to a convertible.
The
BMW car rental also features a much more simple
interior design. Unlike the Mini Cooper Hatchback,
the S Convertible has user-friendly controls
that operate amenities such as automatic climate
control, heated seats, a multifunction steering
wheel, a trip computer and a six-speaker stereo/CD
player. A retractable soft top (with a sunroof
function) is also controlled from inside the
cockpit so when the sun comes out the top
can easily disappear.
