Built
for speed, Lamborghini cars are a must have
for car enthusiasts throughout the world. Combining
style and extreme performance, the Lamborghini
car rental is incredibly exclusive and designed
to cater to a small, wealthy and auto-appreciative
audience.
The company traces back to
Italian founder Ferruccio Lamborghini who
began working on engines during World War
II when he served in the Italian Air Force’s
mechanic corps. Once the war ended, he began
buying surplus military machines to reconfigure
them as tractors, as there was a shortage
of such machinery in Italy.
As Lamborghini’s business
expanded, he began building heaters and air
conditioning units but didn’t actually
built a car until 1963. A sports car enthusiast,
Lamborghini craved an automobile that would
outdo the Ferrari, which was the most popular
luxury car rental at the time. The first Lamborgini,
the 350GT, featured a 3.5-liter four-cam V12
engine and was very powerful for its time.
However, it wasn’t until 1966 that Lamborghini
really took off with the mid-engine Miura.
Lamborghini sold the company
in the early 1970’s after coming on
hard financial times. In the 1980’s
the Lamborghini came out with the Countach,
which featured several angles and vents and
was the premier exotic car rental of that
decade. Shortly after, the company was sold
again to Chrysler before ending up in the
hands of Volkswagen.
Though
the company has changed ownership, Lamborghini
still reflects the sporty design and performance
introduced by Ferruccio in the 1950’s.
Upgraded with modern technology, luxurious
interior amenities and the company’s
trademark scissor-doors, the car has become
the ultimate symbol of luxury automobiles.
Driven by the famous, wealthy and powerful,
Lamborghini’s are rarely seen out on
the streets but make an impact all the same.
