Nothing quite says “exotic car rental”
like the 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago Spyder.
Complete with the company’s trademark
scissor hand doors, the stylish convertible
is nothing short of an attention grabber and
performs just as good as it looks.
Characterized
by a cloth-covered roof panel, the Murcielago
Spyder comes with all the standard luxuries
and even more extravagant optional features.
But let’s start under the hood, shall
we? Powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine, the
Murcielago produces 632 horsepower and 487
pound-feet of torque, allowing it to reach
speeds of up to 211mph - although Lamborghini
encourages Spyder drivers to keep it below
100mph to ensure the top doesn’t fly
off. If you fear that dirt and debris will
spoil such a powerful engine, splurge on the
optional glass engine cover.
The
Lamborghini car rental comes standard with
all-wheel drive and front, center and rear
limited-slip differentials. A six-speed manual
transmission is controlled with a gated metal
shifter but an automatic clutch manual with
a paddle-shifted e-gear is available for those
who prefer. An adjustable suspension that
raises the front to prevent curb scraping,
18-inch wheels, xenon headlights, a tilt-telescoping
steering column, all-wheel drive, traction
control and ventilated antilock brakes with
six-piston brake calipers are all standard.
And,
unlike other sports cars with power and no
style, this luxury car rental comes is just
as comfortable on the inside as it is fast.
Two soft leather seats, automatic climate
control and convenient, easy-to-use dash controls
all make the drive a little more smooth. A
CD/DVD/MP3 stereo system comes standard and
drivers have the option of investing in a
Kenwood touch screen navigation system.
If
that’s not enough, drivers can customize
the look of their Murcielago Spyder with extravagant
fiber and titanium trim packages and the Lamborghini
Ad Personam program, which allows owners to
pick and choose from a number of leathers
and exterior paint colors.
