A luxury coupe and convertible, the 2008 XK
has been a long awaited addition to the popular
Jaguar roster. Though it’s not labeled
a high-performance vehicle, the XK has the
driving capabilities of a sports car but the
style of the kind of automobile the wealthy
buy as accessories.
The
perfect exotic car rental to see and be seen
in, the 2008 XK has been completely redesigned
and features a new all-aluminum body structure
and body panels. Resulting in a lighter vehicle,
the aluminum is also said to improve the car’s
handling, ride quality and crashworthiness.
Available in two trims, the coupe and convertible,
the standard XK features a 4.2-liter V8 engine
generates 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet
of torque while a six-speed automatic transmission
with manual shift control sends all the power
to the rear wheels. Accelerating from zero
to 60mph in 5.6 seconds, the coupe outdoes
the convertible, which completes the same
feat in 6.3 seconds.
Standard
features of the XK include 18-inch wheels,
adaptive suspension damping, xenon headlamps,
rear parking sensors, leather upholstery,
power heated front seats with driver memory,
a touch screen navigation screen and Bluetooth
connectivity. The perfect luxury car rental,
the 2008 model also comes in an Enhanced Luxury
Package that includes 16-way power seats,
leather-trimmed instrument and door inserts,
a heated leather steering wheel and power-folding
mirrors.
For
those craving a true Jaguar car rental, a
high-performance version of the XK is available
in the XKR, which features a supercharged
V8 the produces 420 horsepower, 19-inch wheels,
a firmer suspension with recalibrated adaptive
settings, retuned steering, larger front brakes,
adaptive headlamps, quad exhaust outlets,
an aluminum mesh grille and bolstered front
seats. Specialized aluminum or walnut interior
trim is optional and, should you need a little
more height, 20-inch wheels are available
as well.
