Featuring classic Ferrari styling by Pininfarina,
a top Italian design firm, the 2008 360 Spyder
has a low, sloping nose, bulging back fenders
and rounded lines. What many consider to be
the sports car company’s “entry-level”
car, the 360 offers typical Ferrari speed
and a surprising amount of functionality for
an exotic car rental.
A
fastback rear roof allows for little drag
and two large air intakes are both attractive
and functional in that they cool the engine.
Visible in the rear are four exhaust outlets
and five-spoke alloy wheels show off 18-inch
tires. To prevent wind drag when the top is
down, rear roll bars contain a mesh screen,
making the luxury car rental ideal for driving
with the top down on the highway.
A
3.6-liter V8 engine is mounted behind the
seats and ahead of the rear axle. Featuring
five valves per cylinder, the engine generates
400 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 276 pounds-feet
of torque at 4,750 rpm. The standard transmission
is a six-speed manual but drivers can opt
for the convenience of semi-automatic shifting
through an F1 racing transmission that uses
paddles to change the gears electro hydraulically.
Standard
safety features include antilock brakes and
traction control. Because of an open body
style, the Spyder performs like the 360 Coupe
and is not slowed down by drag caused by wind
resistance. And while performance is the most
important aspect of a Ferrari car rental,
the interior isn’t half bad either.
Two bucket seats available in 12 different
shades of leather can be customized with matching
threads and stitching. Though the car doesn’t
leave much space for luggage, there is room
in the front and drivers can special order
luggage or golf bags to fit in to the small
compartment behind the seats.
