After being reintroduced to the market in
2004, the BMW 650 convertible has been a favorite
amongst those looking for a luxury car rental
with both speed and style. Featuring a sport
two-door design, the car’s made out
of aluminum and composite materials, making
it lightweight and easy to handle.
With
long, low and wide proportions, the convertible
is easy to drive and attractive. A vertical
glass rear window can power up and down and
acts a wind blocker when the top is down.
A two-level electronic stability system is
standard and conveniently wired to the dash
so that, with the touch of a button, the steering
is automatically altered so the transmission
can adjust to the terrain and hold gears longer.
Running
on a 4.8-liter V8 engine, the convertible
produces 360 horsepower and 360 pounds-feet
of torque. With a choice between a manual
or automatic six-speed transmission, drivers
can choose whether they want their exotic
car rental to be stick shift. Other standard
features include Park Distance Control, Active
Roll Stabilization, 18-inch flat-run tires
and active head restraints.
Like
any BMW car rental, the 650 convertible comes
with an impressive standard safety package.
The company’s trademark Dynamic Stability
Control electronic stability system includes
brake-fade compensation, brake standby, brake
dying and a start-off assist feature. The
car is also fitted with roll bars that will
deploy should there be a collision or emergency
and a lane-departure warning system that vibrates
the steering wheel when drivers drift from
their lane is optional.
On
the inside drivers will be pleasantly surprised
by a roomy cabin that fits up to four people
comfortably. Leather upholstery and BMW’s
signature iDrive, a console knob that controls
six different functions at once, makes driving
more comfortable. Optional interior amenities,
such as a navigation system Sirius Satellite
Radio, a surround sound audio system and heated
front seats are available for those who prefer
to take luxury to the next level.
