From an improved, rapid-shifting six-speed
automatic transmission to an incredible twin-turbo,
300 horsepower producing engine, the 2008
BMW 335i has been revamped and remodeled and
is now being offered as a stylish convertible.
Changing from coupe to convertible in just
23 seconds, the luxury car rental is unique
in that it has a hard top rather than a soft
one, making the ride more quiet and the ability
to tell this comfortable convertible from
a convenient coupe more difficult.
Powered
by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter engine, the convertible
produces 300 horsepower and comes standard
with a six-speed manual transmission. A new
ZF six-speed automatic transmission is available
for those who prefer an easier ride but don’t
worry about losing speed to the automatic.
The ZF is supposed to shift 40% faster than
other automatics.
And
while this BMW car rental is more weighed
down by the hard top, it hasn’t lost
a lot of its speed. Blasting from zero to
60mph in 5.1 seconds, the convertible is anything
but slow. Fifty-fifty weight distribution
also ensures that the extra pounds don’t
affect the car’s handling. A responsive
steering system manages the weight and moves
the wheels with barely the touch of a finger.
Like
a true exotic car rental, the 335i Convertible
doesn’t dwindle when it comes to amenities.
Reflective leather keeps seats up to 30 degrees
cooler than conventional leather, so don’t
worry that the sun will mean scorching leather
when the top is down. An electronic stability
system and 18-inch wheels are also standard
while optional accessories include active
roll stabilization, Bluetooth capabilities
and a number of fine wooden trims.
